deathgrave / augurs  split 7"5.00 €

Deathgrave is a new project from Amber Asylum bassist Fern and Greg Wilkinson, the master sound engineer behind Oakland's Earhammer Studios and bassist in Brainoil (ex-Graves At Sea, ex-Laudanum) who's stepped away form his recent doom dealings to spit out some truly virulent grind. The tone alone will knock you on your ass, and coupled with Augurs' nasty, sludge-encrusted black grind, this split might just be one of 2015's best underground gems.

ostraca   deathless 12"11.00 €

"Arguably one of the most refined and impressive screamo albums in recent memory... Deathless combines rapid, near-grind shredding, metallic and foreboding melodies, impeccably placed softer passages, and, with their final track, an enveloping wall of noise that threatens to swallow unwary listeners. Amidst it all, deathless maintains a relentlessly dark and worn tone, at times subjecting the listener to such violent catharsis that feels equal parts beautiful and oppressive." - Funeral Sounds

thou / great falls  split 7"5.00 €

" Such is my love for this new split, is in no small part due to the inclusion of resident grime throwers Thou in a noise laden duel with Great Falls, covering none other than heavy noise mongers Shellac Kicking off Side A, is ‘Wingwalker’ from the 1993 release Uranus, as performed by Great Falls, and man do they know what’s up! They give a tight performance of this manic track, staying pretty close to the original sound and furious fever of the vocals. It feels a little more pent up and more frustrated than the original tune, but that just adds to the ferocity. They are a bit slicker production wise, but they channel some hellacious energy into this recording. It'll be love at first listen as you stomp new holes in your house or workplace. On to side b, we have a vicious performance of a very vindictive song, ‘A Prayer to God’, by Louisiana sludge trawlers, Thou. First off, I love these guys; second, they make a very angry, personal song even heavier. The original is a prayer to bring ruin and pain to two people in the singer’s life, the second of which he wants to end on a hard note. Thou take that, and make it almost blasphemous in their normal, dirty way. It’s a char-filled fuzz block of a song, and my personal pick of the two on offer. If you wrong someone and they are listening to this song near you: RUN. Splits are a great way to sample bands to see what they are about, what influences them, and how they want to bring their own energy to a project. This record does no less, giving two excellent bands, 7 inches of wax and two choice covers from a legendary band. Find it, buy it, break shit. - sludgelord"

depravation  feast with the rats 12"10.00 €

DEPRAVATION plays a filthy mixture of hardcore, metal and crust. After their 2013 debut "II: maledictvm", the split with SLOWLY WE ROT showed the direction the band was heading to with the songs of their new release "feast with the rats". The current material is heavily influenced by death and black-metal (the vicious BOLT THROWER and MAYHEM style, not the ambient, progressive... 3rd wave crap), spawning 4 loathsome tracks somewhere between despair and fury. They sound ferocious across this record is angry as hell - pure anger - a swirling mass of guitar and bass pinned in by some great drumming with vocals like a sand blaster. It’s a rush, from one end to the other. If you are into BLIND TO FAITH, HESSIAN or WITHDRAWAL, you should definitely check this rager out. Don't worry about the genres - just feel the hate seething from this excellent mini-album. The one-sided, 180gr thick vinyl comes with a screenprinted b-side, a cover and inlay with incredibly blunt artwork by Gravedweller and includes a digital download card.

gillian carter  dreams of suffocation 12"11.00 €

Rivera composed this record in the wake of loss. Dreams of Suffocation stands as an auditory dedication to his late dog Mazy. Only one track really broadcasts itself as an eulogy, the interlude “Rest in Peace.” Underscored by Oriza’s watery organ chords, this dirge holds no stanzas hostage, but instead lets Rivera’s repeated guitar swells wash over the crushing absence of words. As the penultimate track we’re offered here, it seems to be the perfect opposition to its follower, “Discouragement (Better Luck Next Year).” Over standard-grade erratic percussion and equally fiery production, Rivera exclaims over a stubborn guitar trickling, “I’ve willingly given away everything for this & now there's nothing to show for it.” While the object of his claim is vague, the proof intended for it is clear. Gillian Carter’s latest full-length is a perfect swan song for a bygone friend. What Rivera has given is everything this two-piece could want to show -- brilliant, heartbreaking songwriting ransacked by dismay -- to portray how deeply this parting glance needed to be extended. - James Cassar

her breath on glass  selftitled 6"5.00 €

"this record was initially released by listen to aylin records in 2009, here we have a new mainland europe edition of an overrun of the original press that was found without covers, assembled in 2016. this version comes in xeroxed brown paper sleeves with bird cover and includes a full color lyrics inlay and small band photo Her Breath On Glass are a two-piece screamo band formed by members of The Saddest Landscape during their hiatus (2005-2009). They sound as you would expect them to, I suppose. It’s basically TSL minus a second guitarist and bassist. However, HBOG comes off as much rawer because of that. The passion, intensity, and aggression that TSL put forth is stripped down and worn wide open. They’re also a bit darker, if that makes sense."

rainmaker / ojne  split 7"5.00 €

Rainmaker are from Sweden and play really badass screamo with a hardcore attitude. The good thing about bands like Øjne is that their sound avalanches without explicitly shouting “AVALANCHE!”. It’s a similar idea to how they can be completely understood despite a language barrier. There is nothing particularly heavy about what they’re playing and yet, it all feels climactic. Their tight rhythm section has a lot to do with this.

ultha  pain cleanses every doubt 12"12.00 €

ULTHA's debut record features four epic songs of dark, moody Black Metal somewhere between the traditional Scandinavian school and a more contemporary US-Black Metal approach. “Pain Cleanses Every Doubt” is for fans of Ash Borer, Xasthur, Leviathan, Christicide, Blut Aus Nord... The four songs often vary in speed and mood, yet always functioning as one big entity. A constant feel of urging darkness is present. This manifests in the omnipresent melodies which lure the listener in and also in the sophisticated, metaphor ridden lyrics about melancholia, depression, doubt and anti-religious believes. The record was recorded in the bands rehearsal space only a few months after the band's initial first rehearsal. There is a fine balance of a cold, rough feel to a full and heavy sound, embodied in a very mature songwriting for such a young band.
